3 Unique Keys in Choosing Your Wedding Shoes

Choosing a pair of wedding shoes may sound simple enough to most women. But honestly, it is quite a challenge when you go out to shop the right pair of shoes. There are so many choices, so many designs and styles that any woman on the verge of finding the right pair could spend hours and hundreds of dollars as well.

First thing you should do is to sit down and plan for your shoe shopping spree. If your wedding dress is already on the works at the local couture or you've purchased it already, you already have a part of your shoe-shopping already covered. Of course you need to have a pair that will complement your dress and nowadays the color of the lady's shoes doesn't always have to be white.

Next is to use 3 criteria in choosing your wedding shoes. Yes, it should be uniquely you and it should make you feel happy because you chose your pair of special shoes.

Here are some unique ideas you can use:

1) Use the theme of your wedding in choosing the right shoes

In case you chose a beach wedding, it's not the right venue to wear high heels or wedged shoes. The sand will penetrate your shoes and you'll feel uncomfortable. So it is only imperative to wear flip flops or thong sandals that are flat and appropriate for the place. Surely you can wear a beach-appropriate gown, but you need to pair it with the right footwear too.

You can find embellished thong sandals or you can look for flip flops that is not-so-casual looking. You can go for whites, beiges and neutral colors such as the color of the sand. Embellished ones are also great and easy to find in malls and department stores.

If your wedding is Indian-inspired, you can go for Indian shoes that are either low-heeled or flat with embellishments. If you are going to wear a white or beige gown, you may look for the same colored pair of shoes, but nowadays many brides are going bold with shoe colors, so a pair of pink or red embellished Indian shoes can make a bold but stylish statement on the aisle.

2) Use the color motif of your wedding in looking for shoes

Why not?

If you are planning for a traditional wedding ceremony with all white for your wedding gown and the motif color for your bridesmaids, you can go all-motif with your shoes too. If your motif is red wine, your shoes can be red wine too. As mentioned earlier, many brides are going bold when it comes to choosing the color of their wedding shoes. There's nothing wrong with a white or beige gown and a pair of dark wine red shoes or blue or purple or any color for that matter.

Remember that whites and beiges are great with any color combinations, so use this opportunity to wear colored wedding shoes because it's your day after all.

3) Choose comfort over what's "in"

Now here's a not-so unique advice. But it is essential in many ways.

Don't pick a pair of platforms for your wedding shoes. This is a big no-no if you want to walk in and out of the church comfortably. Sky-high shoes are not advisable since you need to be comfortable throughout the wedding ceremony and reception.

Don't even think about picking chunky and hideous gladiators. If you want to wear them on your wedding day, you may look for the not-so chunky or choose the thinly-strapped ones that are flat or low-heeled. There are elegantly-designed gladiator sandals or shoes, so go for those types instead of the rock-and-roll types.

The idea here is to still stick on a bit of style and elegance without compromising comfort. You don't need pain and sores on your feet during your wedding day, so choose wisely.

Picking the right shoes a few months early is advisable when you are going hands-on with your entire wedding attire. As mentioned above, it's always comfort that should come first and style second. Colors are not bad, just make sure they will make you happy and that they will complement your style and wedding motif.
